Carolyn joined the Foundation Board in 2003. She was a competitive sailor for many years and now enjoys cruising in warm waters. Having come to sailing as an adult, she is devoted to introducing young people to the sport. Her career has focused on the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries where she founded and served as CEO of several successful companies. She also held senior positions at Bayer and Chiron. As principal of a consulting firm, she has guided many emerging companies and their investors in commercializing novel technologies. Carolyn serves on the Boards of several non-profit organizations and chaired a global initiative for treatment of rare diseases in developing nations.
